Brecon Sale of Beltex Sheep
Thursday 13th December 2007

There was considerable interest generated for the Society Sale of Beltex Female sheep at Brecon Market held on the evening of Thursday 13th December 2007.

Although a limited entry it still attracted buyers from all parts of Wales, The West Country and beyond, who were keen to acquire breeding stock.

Top call of the sale come early on for a 3 year old ewe – Llwynbrain Harebell from S & S Gibbons, Hay on Wye, which was overall Champion Exhibit and purchased by Mr James Dando from Somerset for £1575.

He also went on to purchase two other ewes from the same flock Llwynbrain Kridle (SSG K035) and Llwynbrain Jupiter and in lamb to Calla Justice for £1050 each.

The Reserve Champion was a smart yearling ewe from Messrs Edwards of Penbryn Parc – JMB K146 that made £525 and was purchased by RJ Matthews, Brecon.

There were also several ewe lambs forward that topped at £304 for a lamb from Penbryn Parc and averaged an impressive £223.

It was an excellent clearance with 40 sheep to average-

3-year-old ewes - £588 (£1575)
