Irish Club Chairman Kevin McCarthy received the joint top price of 550gns for a Scrapie group 2 ewe lamb from his Ballycreelly flock at Mossbank Farm, Comber, Co. Down. Ballycreelly Keep Sake is sired by Headlind Joy-Ride bred in Biggar, Lanarkshire by Mr Alan Jackson, and out of a home bred ewe with bloodlines from V/D Drie Musschen. She sold to Donegal breeder Wade McCrabbe who purchased a total of 6 lots to add to his Ardstewart flock at Raphoe, Lifford.
Wade’s purchases included the second highest priced ewe lamb at 400gns also from the Ballycreelly flock, this time Ballycreelly Kloe. This group 2 lamb was from the same Headlind sire, and another Ballycreelly home bred ewe with DePuydt bloodlines.
Also off to the Ardstewart flock in Donegal was the top entry from Thomas & Hester Palmers Burnside Flock at Dickeystown Road, Glenarm, Co. Antrim. At 480gns, Burnside Janice, a Scrapie group 2 gimmer, was served in October to the Belgian group one imported stock ram Just-in-time from the Baele flock, and scanned in lamb with twins. This March born gimmer is by the Belgian sire Firestone - the Palmers stock ram since 2002, and out of an imported ewe.

T& H Palmer, worthy winners of the Club’s Inaugural Flock Competition in November, paid 400gns for the top entry from the Fort View flock of Brendan McQuaid. Fort View Jasmine, from the flock at Lisnaree Road, Banbridge, Co. Down, a Scrapie group one gimmer, and was served in October to Hugo V/H Hoveke the Belgian group one imported stock ram from the Stragier flock which sired prize winning ram lambs in 2006. The February born gimmer is by a Belgian sire from the Blanchaert flock and out of an imported ewe, and was scanned in lamb with twins.
The top price aged ewe was an entry from the Lagyveagh flock of Hugh & Eddie O’Neill. At 300gns, Lagyveagh Heidi, a Scrapie group one ewe, was served in October by an imported group one ram and was carrying a single lamb. The February 2004 ewe is by the Belgian sire Foks V/D Vosseberg from the Segaert flock, and out of a home bred daughter of the DePuydt ram.
