Coningswick Gail from the Fraziers’ flock at Coningswick
Farm, Rock, near Kidderminster, Worcestershire was AId in September
to the record priced ram lamb at the Carlisle August 2004 premier Beltex
Sheep Society sale when it sold for 6,800gns. The February 2003 born
shearling gimmer is by the Belgian sire Van’t Korenhof Calvados
and out of Coningswick Ella and it sold to Mrs J Cruickshank, of Drumrash
Farm, Parton, Castle Douglas. Close behind another shearling gimmer
from the Coningswick flock made the sale’s joint second top price
of 1,200gns.
Another scrapie group one female, Welsh Gem, a February 03 born daughter
of Headlind Ee By Gum and out of Clary Duchess, had also been AId to
Pentland Hero. She sold to Anglesey breeder C Parry, of Fron Farm,
Beaumaris.
It was another North Wales buyer D Jones of Plas Pigot, Llansannan,
Clwyd, who paid the second 1,200gns price for an imported shearling
gimmer from the Aviemore flock of Doreen Mair based at Aviemore House,
Turriff, Aberdeenshire. The March-03 born Frida V/D Vosseberg was AId
in September to Kauwenberg Knock Out, an imported shearling which was
second prize winner in the shearling ram class at East Flanders Show,
Deinze.
Another Aviemore group one shearling gimmer sold for 1,100gns returning
north with purchasers K Gill & Co to Easter Fortrose, Ross-shire.
A group one shearling gimmer from Gavin Shanks and Alan Thom’s
Garrion flock at Bowmanhurst, Brownlee Estate, Carluke, which was run
with the record priced Tullygarley Elite which made 34,000gns at the
Carlisle August 2003 sale, made 1,000gns. West Wales breeders G Davies,
of Tyllwyd, Dryslwyn, Carmarthen bought the May 03 born twin by Glenkern
E’Carte out of Forglen Designer Label.
Shanks and Thom sold another Garrion group one shearling for 850gns
to Mr Jones also by Glenkern E’Carte and having run with Elite.
The reserve overall champion from the Frazier’s Coningswick flock,
also AI'd to Pentland Hero, sold for 900gns to Brian Ryder, of Newtown
Farm, Annan Water, Moffat, Dumfriesshire.
Another five lots made 750gns and more including two at 780gns and
three at 750gns.
