EIGHTH ANNUAL SHOW & SALE of BELTEX SHEEP
WORCESTER LIVESTOCK MARKET

The Beltex Society's Show and Sale at Worcester peaked at a very impressive 1800gns for the 1st and Reserve Female Champion, a Shearling Ewe by Luggsmill Gunner from David and Ivy Bishop's "Luggsmill" flock, Malvern, Worcestershire being secured by A & R Livestock. Eldersfield, Gloucester. The same combination of vendor and purchaser secured the 1st prize Ewe Lamb also a "Gunner" daughter at 580gns.

The top price came from D & I Bishop for the 1st Prize Shearling Gimmer and Reserve Female Champion, which sold for 1800gns to A & R Livestock.

Females were very much in demand with the second prize Senior Ewe also from the "Luggsmill" flock peaking at 1,720gns to D Thornley, Swadlincote, Derby.

A strong contingent of sheep in the sale from VJ & ML Roots enjoyed a hotly contested trade with their 1st, Female and Reserve Overall Champion, a Senior Ewe selling at 800gns to CR Parry, Beaumaris, North Wales.

Rams were closely followed throughout with a top bid of 850gns for "Llwynbrain Meatball" a Shearling by "Calla Justice" having taken 1st and Reserve Male Champion and purchased by R Bond, Totnes, Devon.

The same top in the Ram section of 850gns went to the second prize Ram Lamb from Andrew Bishop's "Bishops" flock, a February born twin by "Sundey Lucky Dip" secured by Gail Brownsett, Pencader, Ceredigion. A very strong run of Shearling Rams from Dermot Costello's "Bailey Brook" flock were well supported reaching a top of 720gns to PJ Samuel, Rhosgrug, Llandrindod Wells, Powys.

Auctioneer Clive Roads reported a very strong attendance from across the country with plenty of keen and spirited bidding with an almost 100% clearance.
