Beltex Supreme at Skipton

The monthly show of prime lambs held at Skipton Auction Mart on Monday February 7th 2011 was a clean sweep for Beltex sired lambs, winning both the championship and reserve.

The champions were presented by John Stapleton of KG Stapleton, Skipton and his 42kg Beltex crosses sold at £106 equating to 252.4p/kg to James Robertshaw for his award winning Keelham Farm Shop at Thornton, Bradford.

The reserve champions, also Beltex crosses which weighed 46kg came from Stephen Pepper of Oxenhope. They also sold to Keelham Farm Shop this time for £115 or 250p/kg.

James Robertshaw said;
"I purchase Beltex Lambs for the farm shop because my customers look for consistent quality – and Beltex lambs tick all the boxes for taste, texture and eating quality. Plus as a butcher I know the importance of high meat yields from the lambs I buy and the Beltex always delivers on killing out and high saleable meat percentages from the carcass"
