Beltex Council Meeting
held on Tuesday 31st May 2011

1. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE were received from C Barnes & F
Harbinson.
2. MATTERS ARISING
i) Registration fees for ET and imported animals:
It was proposed and agreed
that ET and import registrations be the same fee (£13 + VAT).
This proposal to take effect from 1st January 2012.
3. CORRESPONDENCE
i) Welshpool Sale
It was proposed and agreed that at all Club sales, there should be a section
for fully registered non-MV males to be sold after the accredited sheep subject
to individual auction marts having the facility to accommodate both.
4. PROPOSAL
FOR THE FORMAL ADOPTION OF REGIONAL REPRESENTATION INTO THE ARTICLES OF ASSOCIATION
After discussion it was agreed that the following amendment to the A of A
be included in the AGM agenda:
38.2 Members resident in each of the regions, England, Scotland, Wales and
Ireland shall elect representatives to Council. The number of representatives
for each region shall be: England 5, Scotland 3, Wales 2 and Ireland 2.
Two further proposals were agreed for inclusion on the AGM agenda as recommendations
by Council:
i) The term of office for Council members be reduced from 4 years to 3 years.
ii) Elected Council members serve a maximum of 2 consecutive terms and then
stand down for one year.
5. PRESENTATION BY ROBERT SMITH ON VIDEO & OTHER
MEDIA PROMOTIONAL TOOLS
Robert Smith gave a presentation on the work he carries out in relation to
the use of video, YouTube, and illustrated his ongoing work for other breed
societies.
It was proposed and agreed that a promotional video aimed at commercial producers
be made and be available by Easter 2012.
6. SHOWS AND SALES 2011
Northern Ireland – i) Subject to Bluetongue restrictions still being
in place, it was agreed that JH would inspect sheep coming from NI prior
to departure. Ii) Order of sale of females – it was agreed that clubs
should be given the option of selecting their own order of sale to suit the
vendors and purchasers.
Wales – i) NSA Welsh Sheep held on 18th May
was a very successful day; the stand won the best breed stand at the event
and were presented with a crystal bowl. It was agreed that this should be
presented to the Welsh club at the AGM and they in turn could use it as a
trophy at one of their events.
7. ANY OTHER BUSINESS
i) Breed Development meeting – it was agreed to organise an open meeting
to discuss members ideas for breed development, this should be publicised
to all. Venue – Welshpool Auction mart in mid-October
